"Significant potential for Swiss medtech companies"
6 March 2020
T4M is a key specialist event for the Swiss industry association Swiss Medtech. In this interview, Doris Loretan – head of trade fairs at Swiss Medtech – talks about the new guided tours, the Swiss group stand and the fantastic partnership with Messe Stuttgart.
Taking place in Stuttgart, T4M – Technology for Medical Devices Stuttgart is a key specialist event for the Swiss industry association Swiss Medtech, which represents around 1400 Swiss companies. The south-western region of Baden-Württemberg in Germany represents a key market for Swiss suppliers, with 840 medical technology companies conducting research, developing ideas and manufacturing products there. In this interview, Doris Loretan – head of trade fairs at Swiss Medtech – talks about the new guided tours, the Swiss group stand and the fantastic partnership with Messe Stuttgart.
Ms Loretan, what three words would you use to describe T4M?
Interconnected, innovative and pioneering.
What can trade visitors expect this year at the Swiss pavilion? Have there been any changes?
This year, Swiss Medtech will offer guided tours in the Swiss pavilion, enabling us to bring the tour participants and Swiss exhibitors together and initiate new opportunities for cooperation between them.
Which topics, products and services do you think will prompt the most discussion between exhibitors and trade visitors at T4M 2020?
I think that the impact of the Medical Device Regulation (MDR) on suppliers will continue to provide a lot of impetus for discussion. I also think that additive production engineering will be a key topic.
Swiss Medtech and Messe Stuttgart operates a very active, engaged partnership that is aiming to establish T4M at the Stuttgart location for the long term. How are you involved? What is your role?
Swiss Medtech is heavily involved in attracting visitors from Switzerland and putting the trade fair on the map, both nationally and internationally – so it is the ideal partner for Messe Stuttgart. It is also organising a group stand called the Swiss pavilion. By taking part in event committees, Swiss Medtech is playing an active role in helping T4M to develop into a leading supplier fair in Europe.
As a Stuttgart-based event, what does T4M – Technology for Medical Devices mean in particular to Switzerland and Swiss Medtech?
With its high concentration of medical technology companies and proximity to Switzerland, Baden-Württemberg has significant potential for Swiss medical technology companies to expand their network within the industry. It also allows Swiss companies, with their specific knowledge of Switzerland, to position themselves in Germany and take advantage of this key sales market. Another crucial factor in Swiss Medtech’s choice of location is the fantastic partnership it operates with Messe Stuttgart and its clear commitment to the exhibitors at the Stuttgart location.
What importance do medical technology trade fairs hold for Swiss Medtech more generally?
Medical technology trade fairs are an opportunity for our members and all Swiss medical technology companies to present themselves on a group platform of national and international buyers. The Swiss pavilion provides Swiss exhibitors with comprehensive service and assistance.
Thank you very much for your time, Ms Loretan!
