Inclusive design approach to support tetraplegics in their daily challenge of closing zippers

The journey to create an industrialized and commercially available product to support tetraplegics in their daily zipper challenge. In this presentation, we will provide you with an insight into our holistic approach and present the process of ZipUp development, including a product presentation.

Observation by nursing staff reveals that tetraplegics often have difficulty closing the zipper. As a result, they are dependent on help several times a day. The high hurdle to seeking help outside of the familiar environment can contribute to social withdrawal.

Together with the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation, QUO developed ZipUp. This off-the-shelf, minimalist, and barely visible solution enables tetraplegics to close their jacket independently.

In this presentation, we will provide you with an insight into our holistic approach and present the process of ZipUp development, including a product presentation.
