Pressure Monitoring in Infusion Pumps with Thin Film Sensors

Senstech's thin-film strain gauge sensors offer a cost-effective and space-saving way to monitor the pressure in infusion pumps. Arcomed has been successfully using such sensors in its Syramed and Volumed product lines for many years.

The technology

The infusion pumps of Arcomed's Volumed line use a miniature sensor that measures the curvature of a silicone tube directly via a plastic bolt. The tube is clamped on three sides so that it can only move in the direction of the sensor. This makes it possible to monitor the pressure in the hose with a simple measuring mechanism. The pumps of the Syramed line use a comparable mechanism to determine the contact pressure on the syringe.

As an ISO 13485 certified manufacturer with production in Switzerland, we supply OEM sensors to several well-known medtech manufacturers; thanks to modern laser technology, our production is cost-effective in both small and large quantities and we are able to deliver first prototypes with a short lead time.
