SCHNEEBERGER has recently launched a new measuring system that sets new standards in linear measurement technology with its unrivaled technology and precision. The so called SCHNEEBERGER Absolute Measuring System (SAM) is the world’s smallest integrable measuring system for linear guideway products and enables applications in medical technology.
SAM was specially developed for highly precise and absolute position measurement
An additional special feature of the SAM is its user-friendliness and flexibility. The system can be easily integrated into existing applications and is immediately “plug and play” operational without any adjustment processes. By means of the optical sensors, the position of our guideways can also be recorded after a power failure without the need for a backup battery. You can use 3 out of 5 interfaces simultaneously BiSS/SSI, ABZ, UVW, SPI, analog Sin/Cos. The calibrated parameter values are stored in the internal EEPROM of the sensor, so that the carriage reliably finds its last position. In addition, the scale is lasered directly onto the rail, making the integrated SAM measuring system space-saving. SAM is extremely positionally accurate at <2 µm (3-sigma) and reliably secures the measuring process. SAM is currently the smallest integrated absolute measuring system and available in the smallest miniature linear guide MINIRAIL. The sensor is only 9.9 x 5.0 x 1.1 mm small. With SAM, guiding and measuring takes on a new dimension as an integrated system solution in the tighest installation space.
