Symposium programme offers numerous Highlights

Swiss Medtech Expo 2023 offers compact and structured knowledge transfer. At the symposium, renowned experts from a variety of application areas will provide practical information about the current state of medical technology.

At the Swiss Medtech Expo symposium, visitors will receive an update on current topics in medical technology. Ten keynote speakers will be reporting on science, technology and industry, and fascinating projects will be introduced in 24 presentations.

Tuesday sees the spotlight directed onto patients and users

The symposium is organized into focal topics. Presentations on the following focal topics will be given on Tuesday:

  • Smart Design & Engineering
  • Miniaturization
  • Smarte products
  • The role of manufacturers in the health system, organised and carried out by the Health Tech Cluster Switzerland

Each thematic block will comprise keynotes and presentations on interesting projects. For example, Peter Bäschlin from QUO AG will report in the morning on the journey to create an industrialized and commercially available product to support tetraplegics in their daily zipper challenge.

In the afternoon, Dr Roland Herzog from the AO Foundation will explain how smart implants can help to improve bone healing, control stress during the healing phase and bring patients back to active life more quickly. Another highlight is the panel discussion on «Healthcare system at its limit - What can manufacturers contribute to solving the problem?» with top-class participants.

Wednesday is all about manufacturing

Wednesday is all about manufacturing. Novel processes, innovative materials, challenges in production and other exciting topics will be highlighted. The following thematic blocks are available:

  • Smart manufacturing
  • Innovative materials, surfaces & coatings
  • Process optimisation in the Swiss Medtech industry, organised and conducted by the Swiss medical technology association Swiss Medtech.

Julius Klaas from bottneuro AG and Roman Speck from prodartis AG, among others, will talk about how patient-specific products are created via an automated design process and manufactured using the latest 3D printing technology. In addition, Benjamin Hippen from BBC Cellpack Technology will give you an insight into a company that is in the middle of a business process reengineering project and is fundamentally aligning its organisation with customer needs.

Participation in the symposium is included in the admission to the trade fair. The presentations will be given in German or in English. You can find the full program here.
