Titanium MEDIBARRE ECO-90 made from 90% Swiss recyclables

Service provider thyssenkrupp Materials Schweiz AG, Italian titanium producer TiFast S.r.l. and Swiss luxury watchmaker Panerai have partnered for the development of a titanium Grade 5 recycled at a minimum of 90%.

This «Made in Europe» titanium alloy is certified for medical implants according to the ISO 5832 standard to ensure dermatological compatibility. "Only the best quality is good enough for Swiss watchmakers," says Yves Invernizzi, Commercial Director at TiFast, "we are proud that Panerai will be the first user of this titanium alloy, which is at least 90% recycled, and that thyssenkrupp will take over the stocking and distribution for hopefully many other customers as well."

“Clean and sorted recyclables are the key to success”, explains Daniel Hagen, head of dept. Special Alloys at thyssenkrupp Materials Schweiz AG. He also emphasizes the importance of short transport routes. "It is not sustainable if we transport recyclables around the globe. With Precycling SA, we have found the local partner for sustainable raw material procurement. We cannot yet completely do without additional European sources. In future, however, we will recycle titanium exclusively from Swiss sources."
